The Highlands Biological Station (HBS) is a year-round biological field station located on a high plateau in the Appalachian Mountains of western North Carolina. The mission of HBS is to foster education and research focused on the rich natural heritage of the Highlands Plateau while preserving and celebrating the integrity of the southern Appalachian Mountains.
