The North Carolina Science, Mathematics, and Technology Education Center was created in 2002 to help provide all children in North Carolina with the necessary resources, knowledge, and skills to excel in science, mathematics and technology.

The NC STEM Learning Network in partnership with other educational organizations in the state has released a list of STEM attributes that a successful school or program needs to have in place to offer exceptional STEM education.  The North Carolina State Board of Education has adopted these measures and will help in the evaluation of STEM programs in the state.
