Man and the Sea, Segment Two

Segment Two: The Beach is a Very Special Place

This video segment traces human activity on the barrier islands and coastal lands of the Carolinas from early colonization to the present. Students explore human interactions with the coastal zone, the results of increased human presence, as well as use and misuse of resources. This video segment closes by reminding each student that his or her decisions will affect the destiny of our coastal lands—a destiny caught in a battle between humans and the sea.
