Segment One: Streams Erode the Land
This video segment traces water from the point where it first strikes earth until it enters the sea. Students learn about erosion and deposition, watershed development and human use and misuse of streams. The video shows examples of potholes and waterfalls that result from the turbulent water of high gradient streams. Students learn about high gradient youthful streams, medium gradient mature streams and low gradient old age streams. Finally, this video segment illustrates rejuvenation of streams from low gradient to high gradient.
