Agents of Erosion, Segment Two

Segment Two: Glaciers Carve the Land

This video segment introduces students to glaciation and the landforms produced by moving ice. Although continental glaciers are mentioned, most of the video is devoted to alpine glaciation. Film footage from Alaska and Banff National Park in Canada provides students with a firsthand look at active glaciers, ice movement and results of erosion. A walk through Montana’s Rock Creek Canyon introduces students to features left by a retreating glacier. Spectacular views in Yosemite Valley show students the power of moving ice.
